AL: Hi Ladybird (I actually stole that greeting from you and use it all the time now! You are the cutest!) How is your day going?
ST: Hey ladybird back! Today’s great. And inspiration is not theft!

AL: What are you busy with at the moment?
ST: I just finished a telephone interview now I’m listening to Neil Young while writing notes for a speaking engagement and talking to you!
AL: I was checking out ‘Sarah Taylor’s Stream of Consciousness’ and admiring your initiative to not only reach out, but to create a platform for voices to be heard. What was your ‘Tipping Point’ to move forward with this project?
ST: Wow, I think my tipping point has actually been a slow burn for a few years now. Recently I have been more motivated and inspired to work towards creating more spaces for young women’s diverse voices especially in Canada’s media. Big parts of my heart always gravitate towards storytelling because of it’s creativity, power and healing abilities. I’m working on some very special things with incredibly inspiring young women…look out!
AL: I find it incredibly inspiring when people choose to use their success for the betterment of humanity rather than more shoes and faster cars. Being in the music business, you, more than anybody know how fleeting all of that can be. How do you find the balance between staying focused on your goals while giving so much of yourself at the same time?
ST: I think I’ve learned the hard way that living a life lacking any authenticity or without alignment to your bigger picture just makes things harder. I know what I care about and what I love. That’s where I try to keep my focus.

AL: OK ladybird…On to FASHION!! Please do tell us how you manage to look hot, hip, and slick seven days a week?
ST: I do?? I think dressing specifically for you is the key. For me it’s about feeling comfortable, confident, and having fun! With maturity you begin to understand better it’s more important dressing for your body and mood than it is to risk compromising comfort levels to please others. Also I have very fashionable friends!
AL: Your style is seemingly effortless, do you ever have fashion meltdowns?
ST: Actually at this point they are very rare although I am extremely specific about what I like and the ways I want to express myself. I usually have a good idea of what I want so the fun usually lies in finding it.
AL: What is Sarah Taylor’s go-too look?
ST: This very moment? Turbans, African prints and jewelry, and baggy, over-sized menswear.
AL: I know you are a big fan of Greta Constantine, what other Canadian labels do you love?
ST: MIKHAEL KALE FOR LIFE. I also love Complex Geometries and Dandi Maestre.
AL: Do you make a conscious effort to mix Canadian designers into your wardrobe?
ST: Of course. That’s our fashion family.
AL: What is more stressful, dressing up for MMVA’s or dressing up for a one-on-one interview with a big star?
ST: MMVA’s come with much more pressure since it’s live and you’re in front of so many
people and one-on-one interviews have at least a chance of being closer to reality so it feels easier to be who you are and dress accordingly.

AL: What are your three top-shops at the moment?
ST: All in TO: Chasse Gardee, Fawn and Courage My Love.
AL: I have been thinking so much lately about how powerful personal style is, how does your style empower you?
ST: Personal style is a powerful expression of who you are and it’s a wonderful visual barometer for what you’re moving through personally, inspirations and mood. If I could play dress up for the rest of my life I would. Wait, I can.
AL: What do you think would be possible if more people felt beautiful?
ST: Great question. If everyone felt beautiful our world would be completely different. Since our thoughts, words and disposition create our lives and affect all we encounter, things will be more magical when we let in more beauty and therefore: More Love.
AL: Thank you ladybird.
ST: Thank you! XOXX
