I asked The Score‘s James Sharman to weigh-in on Football and Fashion. Here’s what he had to say…
“Being no fashionista, I like the simple things in soccer, therefore I like a nice black and white vertical stripes strip (strips are what soccer uniforms are called.) Newcastle have it down to a tee, while most clubs bring out new look kits each season in order to suck more money from their fans hard working pockets, Newcastle keep the changes to a minimum. You could rock your 1970’s Kevin Keegan Newcastle shirt and not look out of place beside a 2011 Joey Barton edition. Best of all is that the vertical stripes are really quite slimming, and if you get to watch a Magpies game this weekend, you’ll see that comes in handy for some of the hardcores. That being said, despite loving the shirts, I will never be able to wear one, contrary to some people’s beliefs it is extremely important to only wear the shirt of your team, and no other, even if your boys aren’t blessed with anything as sexy as a Newcastle strip!”
