I was in Montreal a few weeks ago and stopped by The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts where they were hosting an extraordinary exhibit showcasing the work and life of designer Jean Paul Gaultier. Contrary to most galleries, they encouraged getting up close and personal with the garments AND taking pictures! Naturally I obliged!
Besides viewing the work of one of the world’s best designers, the exhibit also celebrated some of the greatest names in fashion photography as well as the beautiful people that have graced the pages of magazines in his clothes. It was quite a surreal experience spending time with some of the gowns, bustiers and blazers that helped shaped my love of fashion. Bravo to JPG and the curators of MMFA who pulled this off with perfection!
Unfortunately, the exhibit has moved on from Montreal to The Dallas Museum of Art where it will be showing until February 12th. Definitely worth the trip!
